CANTIAMO E LIBIAMO – Sëlëczëno

is a chamber, mixed, and amateur intergenerational choir operating at the Municipal Cultural Center in Sulęczyn. It currently numbers 21 members (7 sopranos, 9 altos, 4 tenors, and 1 baritone), and its members share more than just music – they also have an impressive age range: from "one at the front" to a proud eighth… well, okay, eighth decade. The choir is led by Susana Alegre Raso, a singer originally from Galicia (the Spanish kind, not the old Polish kind).

They say about themselves: "We sing as many voices as we can and in as many languages as we can: Polish, Kashubian, Spanish, Galician, Italian, English, and sometimes even Latin (when circumstances or angels demand it). Our repertoire includes classical works by Polish, Spanish, and Italian composers, sacred music, Christmas carols, and Kashubian and Galician folk songs. Most of the songs are performed a cappella, but when the musical situation calls for it, the choristers themselves take up instruments: guitar, ukulele, viola, flutes, saxophone, bandurria, and even the hurdy-gurdy (which impresses everyone even before it sounds).

We accompany local events: singing at masses, harvest festivals, concerts, and December caroling. We have performed in Kashubia, Kujawy, and the Tricity area. We made our debut in 2022, as hosts of the event: Choral Days in Sulęczyn, of which we are the initiators (the 4th edition took place in 2025). In 2023, we participated in the Kartuzy County Artists project, which resulted in recordings broadcast on Radio Kaszëbë and Radio Gdańsk, among other things.

2025 was an exceptionally busy year for us. Not only did we host the 4th Choir Days and the 19th Kashubian Choir Congress, but we also had the courage to stand (and sing!) alongside experienced choirs during the 16th National Choir Tournament for the Crystal Heart of Chełmno Autumn. We considered it a success to be among such distinguished company, and yet we also returned with a bronze medal. And although we're still diligently practicing our breathing, entrances, and notes ("the more difficult ones"), we already have proof that we're heading in the right direction."

CONDUCTOR: Susana Alegre Raso

Mezzo-soprano: She began her musical education in her birthplace of A Coruña, Galicia (Spain), at the local Conservatory. She continued her studies at the Conservatory in Santiago de Compostela, where she also took up the viola. From an early age, she has played traditional Galician and Spanish folk instruments, including the bandurria and pandeireta.

She was awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to complete a postgraduate internship at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in the class of Professor Małgorzata Marczewska. She has participated in numerous international masterclasses in Spain, Italy, and Poland.

She made her debut as the Page in Rigoletto at the Teatro Colón in A Coruña and as a member of the early music quartet EUTERPE. She has performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and recitals across both Galicia and Poland. She is also an instrumentalist and vocalist for the early music and folk ensemble LIARMAN.

Currently, in addition to performing with the Liarman trio, she conducts the Cantiamo e Libiamo choir at the GOK (Municipal Cultural Center) and teaches singing and piano.
