SEEING VOICES CHOIR
The "Seeing Voices" Choir was established in 2024, bringing together enthusiasts of sign language and music. Since 2016, the majority of the choir members, along with their conductor, have also formed the "Silent" Choir of the University of Silesia. This ensemble has participated in numerous events supporting people with disabilities, theatrical performances, advertisements, and the social campaign "The World Needs You," as well as concerts featuring the Artis Symphony Orchestra.
Key Performances and Projects:
-
May 2025: The "Seeing Voices" Choir performed as a special guest at one of Poland's largest choral festivals—Legnica Cantat—presenting a repertoire in collaboration with the Silesian Chamber Choir "Ad Libitum".
-
June 2025: During the "Three Brothers Festival" (Święto Trzech Braci) in Cieszyn, the choir executed an innovative project where its soloists performed on the town square alongside the band TABU.
The ensemble's primary mission is to promote musical works in sign language, making them accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. The choir aims to integrate the hearing and Deaf communities, teach sign language, and spread knowledge about Deaf culture.
Through its concerts, the choir implements the idea of "double inclusion"—integrating Deaf people into both the artistic performance space and the audience.
Director and Conductor The choir is led by Dr. Anna Wojtas-Rduch.
